Biography

Srishti Wilhelm

Srishti was born and grew up in Jaipur in the Indian state of Rajasthan, a region of India known for its colorful arts and great warriors. (Srishti's name, by the way, is the Sanksrit word for all of God’s creation.) Growing up in a middle class family meant a lot of schooling and tutoring, with only a little time left for artistic endeavors. However, at the age of thirteen Srishti realized that she had a knack for drawing and painting and so indulged herself in art as much as she was able. By fifteen, art time ended due to the great workload the Indian high school student must endure in order to prepare for higher education at a university.

Life took hold over the next several years and Srishti found herself a Software Programmer working in partnership with her husband Ernst Wilhelm and raising a family of three children. Upon all three children attending school and her and her husband’s software business achieving a humble degree of success, she has rediscovered her passion and love of painting in watercolors.

"Starting to paint again after a huge span of fifteen years has been very liberating and exhilarating for me. I love color. Watercolors excite me and I find the process of pouring the paint over the wet paper very magical. While on nature-walks I always loose myself in the beauty that nature provides us and that is exactly how I feel when I paint. I try to emulate the beauty of nature in my paintings but instead of painting the vast landscapes my nature-scapes are up close and personal with this flower or that plant."
"Being completely self-taught and having no art-education at all, I constantly find myself intrigued and experimenting with various techniques and substrates to use with watercolors. As a result I find my art constantly changing and evolving as I learn and explore new horizons."

Her paintings have been selected and displayed at 2008 and 2009 Juried Art Shows at Allied Arts of Yakima and at the 2009 Puyallup Art Fair.
